Dieting tells you that to be successful, you have to eliminate temptation. Remove your favorite foods from your house and stop buying things that you typically overeat. This teaches you that you can’t be trusted around food and leaves you disempowered in situations where you aren’t in control of what is around you. It reinforces the binge-restrict eating cycle and it’s not necessary. An environment for success using hunger-directed eating is different.
